Member Benefits

First and foremost, being a member of the Marine Corps League in Ellis County, Texas affords each individual the opportunity to “give back” to the Marine Corps for the terrific education and opportunities we were provided.  Your support helps make your Detachment stronger, and stronger Detachments around the country benefit the community, the League, the U.S.Marine Corps, and our Nation. Membership also provides individuals with the following opportunities:

Stay Informed

Members are kept informed of pertinent information and activities relevant to the U.S.Marine Corps, and the Marine Corps League through meetings, newsletters, emails, phone calls and texts, and monthly breakfast get together's to name a few. Members are sent the Semper Fi magazine - an exclusive member benefit - to ensure you are aware of information around the League, and the Corps, that might be of interest.

Members are provided access to the Marine Corps League National Web Page along with the Department of Texas Web Page that both includes current news and information, the Detachment Newsletter (which was recently created), meeting and event forms and/or registration and helpful resources.

Professional Networking and Social Events

Members are invited to attend monthly breakfast events that provide opportunities to connect with other members and fellow Veterans which provides an atmosphere to tell war stories and just get to know one another better.

Members are invited to Detachment events including both scheduled events like monthly membership meetings, a summer Detachment anniversary Family picnic, the Marine Corps Ball and ad hoc events arising from opportunities with "partner" organizations. Many of these events are made available at discounted pricing to members.

Members are provided myriad networking opportunities through the monthly meetings, monthly breakfasts, and local, district, department and national Marine Corps League conventions, conferences and events. Don't miss the chance to network with fellow Veterans and Leaguers; Marines, Navy FMF Corpsmen and Chaplains transitioning out of the service; those looking to hire, and those looking to do business with fellow members. Membership dues along with donations from within our community help fund the events that help facilitate these initiatives and help us help our fellow members in need.

Provide Valuable Input and Assistance

Through our Detachment Officers, who are elected and appointed by the membership, we have a voice back to the Marine Corps League Department of Texas and National Headquarters for issues or items of interest.

Detachment members are afforded the opportunity to nominate and elect Detachment, Department and National Officer Nominees into office.

Members assist the Detachment in sponsoring and supporting events for our Veterans and servicemen and women, and families of them both, able and disabled veterans, and other like-minded organizations who support our mission.

Identify Future Leaders to Serve in our League and our Community

Membership provides opportunities to promote the Marine Corps and the Marine Corps League, and to help identify the future leaders to serve in our Detachment and our community.

Members help our Detachment Officers identify potential Detachment Officer candidates and assist with Marine Corps League informational and recruitment campaigns and events.
